I recently had a VIP 1:1 coaching client who hired me to help him with "shiny object syndrome" - meaning he had a "problem" with getting excited about new things and as a result found himself neglecting older/not as exciting projects/work.
His question to me was "how do I overcome the excitement of new things so I can focus on what I'm already doing?"
But as a fellow multi-passionate multi-preneur, I know that trying to tell a fellow multi-minded person to no longer pursue something new isn't sustainable.
So instead of us trying to condition him to not look at shiny new things, we came up with a process that worked for HIM to focus on tasks that needed to be done - in addition - to exploring what else the world has to offer. For him that was putting the "must do" tasks on the calendar because he knows if time is blocked out, it will get done.
Many mono-passionate people/coaches will tell you to niche down, or just focus on what's right in front of you. But you and I both know, that doesn't always work for us... and that's OK!
If you also experience "shiny object syndrome" ask yourself:
1. How can YOU come up with your own process to explore new things whilst still doing what needs to be done?
2. Are you a calendar person? A to-do list person? A person that needs to set timers to focus on different things?
3. How can you incorporate the "shiny things" with the things you already do?
I talk about this and so much more in my soon to be launched digital course, "Monetizing Your Multi-Passions"

Did you know a negative feeling registers immediately in your brain? This is a natural defense reaction here to protect you from harm. WHO THE F*** IS "THEY?" I recently had a 1:1 coaching session with a client and when I asked what was holding her back from publicly proclaiming her passion(s) she answered, “ Well because they won’t understand…” or “.. they will probably just be confused…” So I asked - “Who is THEY?” After we sat in thinking silence for a minute she replied … “I guess they don’t exist…” I said, “So if they don’t exist. Who is holding you back?” -- Do you want to guess the answer? -- When she realized the...
